Vadodara, October 24, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

After registering a commanding nine-wicket victory in the opening match, India will look to seal the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe when the teams meet in the second game at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara on Sunday.

India carried their winning momentum from a 3-0 sweep in the T20I series in Raipur into the ODI opener on Friday. Left-arm spinner Sree Charani claimed a career-best 4/23, while opener Pratika Rawal struck an unbeaten century to guide the hosts to a comprehensive victory on a fresh red-soil pitch.

After bowling Zimbabwe out for 197, India chased down the target with 137 balls to spare, making a winning start to their ICC Championship campaign.

Charani was India’s standout performer with the ball, maintaining disciplined lines and restricting Zimbabwe’s batters. Pacer Kranti Gaud provided excellent support with three wickets for 42 runs. India will hope the bowling duo continues its impressive form in Sunday’s encounter.

For Zimbabwe, 17-year-old Beloved Biza was the leading performer with the bat in the opening ODI, scoring a patient 62 off 92 deliveries. The innings marked her fourth half-century in the format, and the visitors will once again look to her for stability at the top of the order.

India’s batting, meanwhile, offered several encouraging signs. Pratika Rawal struck her third ODI century, remaining unbeaten after scoring 100 off 96 balls, including 15 boundaries.

Regular opener Shafali Verma also impressed in an unfamiliar role at number three, smashing an unbeaten 64 off just 33 balls with five fours and four sixes. It was only her second appearance at that position in ODIs, giving the team management another option to consider.

India are using the series to assess different combinations ahead of their multi-format tour of South Africa. Despite their emphatic opening victory, the hosts will look to improve their fielding after a couple of early lapses in the first match.

With momentum firmly on their side, India will aim to deliver another disciplined performance and wrap up the series on Sunday, while Zimbabwe will seek a stronger all-round display to keep the contest alive.
