Senior BJP leader R. Ashoka on Saturday attacked Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over the controversy surrounding alleged sting operations and blackmail in Karnataka, mocking his ‘Mohabbat Ki Dukaan’ slogan by asking whether it had turned into a “Sting Operation Ki Dukaan”.
In a statement, Ashoka accused the ruling Congress of being embroiled in internal rivalries, covert recordings and alleged attempts to blackmail party colleagues for political advantage.
“The KPCC is no longer a political party — it is a syndicate thriving on dirty tricks,” Ashoka alleged, referring to the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee.
Targeting Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Ashoka questioned whether alleged secret recordings, extortion and efforts to undermine senior leaders reflected the Congress MP’s idea of “Mohabbat”. He also asked whether such developments were consistent with the Karnataka government’s much-publicised guarantee model.
Ashoka further criticised Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s government, alleging that the administration had failed to address the controversy involving members of the ruling party.
“When your own Cabinet ministers expose a web of internal blackmail and betrayal, it proves your administration is rotten to the core,” he alleged.
The BJP leader claimed that Congress leaders were engaged in a struggle to secure positions, retain power and undermine their colleagues. He warned that the party could face political consequences over the controversy.
“The countdown has begun and your days are numbered,” Ashoka said.
The alleged sting operation row has intensified the political confrontation between the Congress and the BJP in Karnataka, with Opposition leaders raising questions about the recordings and demanding accountability.
The allegations made by Ashoka were political claims in the statement; the specific accusations of blackmail and extortion were not independently established in the supplied account.
