Punjabi singer and songwriter Satinder Sartaaj has spoken about his latest song “Guzarish”, describing it as an exploration of love, longing and the simple happiness of wanting to meet someone special.
Sartaaj said the song captures the emotional experience of missing someone and finding joy in the thought of being reunited with them. He said he wanted its melody and emotional expression to remain honest and relatable.
“‘Guzarish’ is a song about the simplest yet most beautiful feeling, the desire to see someone you love. Sometimes, just the thought of meeting that person can fill your heart with happiness. I wanted to bring that feeling into the song through its melody and emotions, keeping it honest and relatable,” Sartaaj said.
He added that music allows listeners to connect songs with their own memories and emotions.
“I believe the beauty of music lies in how it allows each listener to connect with their own memories and feelings. I hope ‘Guzarish’ brings a little warmth to everyone who listens to it and becomes a part of their own love story,” he said.
Directed by Sandeep Sharma, “Guzarish” is presented as a soulful Sufi romantic track centred on the joy of meeting someone after a period of longing. The story follows a lover whose greatest wish is to see his beloved. Their eventual meeting brings him happiness and a sense of peace and completeness.
Sartaaj has written, composed and sung the song.
The music video portrays Sartaaj falling in love with a woman and expressing his emotions through his performance. Set against a scenic backdrop, the video presents him as a romantic lover deeply drawn towards his beloved.
Known for his Sufi music and poetic songwriting, Sartaaj has also used his work to promote Punjabi culture. His popular songs include “Jaiye Sajana,” “Udaarian,” “Sajjan Raazi,” “Ikko Mikke,” “Rutba,” “Titli” and “Nilami.”
Sartaaj has also ventured into acting. He made his film debut in the historical drama “The Black Prince”, portraying Maharaja Duleep Singh. He subsequently appeared in Punjabi films including “Kali Jotta” and “Ikko Mikke.”
