The Haryana government has approved the procurement of 5 lakh data SIMs for tablets to be provided to students of Classes 10 to 12, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said on Monday.
Saini, who was presiding over a meeting of the High-Powered Purchase Committee, said the government was focusing on quality and technical education to equip students with skills aligned with present-day requirements.
He said 5 lakh tablets would be provided to students from Classes 10 to 12, for which the required data SIMs would be procured.
The committee also approved the procurement of 220-volt tubular-type lead-acid batteries for Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Ltd (HVPNL). The procurement covers five types of batteries, including capacities of 100 Ah, 120 Ah and 200 Ah.
The meeting further approved the operation of the HAFED-run Assandh Sugar Mill for one year at a cost of Rs 11.90 crore, including annual overhauling, repairs, maintenance and material requirements.
To strengthen healthcare services, the committee approved the procurement of 59 advanced life support ambulances under the National Health Mission. Of these, 33 ambulances will be deployed in the south zone and 26 in the north zone.
The committee also approved service-related works worth more than Rs 90 crore.
Higher Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, Cooperation and Tourism Minister Arvind Sharma, Health Minister Arti Singh Rao, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Arun Kumar Gupta and several senior officials attended the meeting.
Additional Chief Secretary Sumita Misra, Principal Secretary Vijay Singh Dahiya, Commissioner and Secretary Ashima Brar, and Director of the Information, Public Relations and Languages Department and Managing Director, HVPNL, Aditya Dahiya, were also present.
