Three Vessels Turn Back From Strait of Hormuz After IRGC Warning

Tehran, September 6, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Three vessels, including two oil tankers and a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carrier, turned back while attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz through a southern route after receiving warnings from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, media reports said on Sunday.

Citing maritime tracking data, semi-official Fars news agency identified the vessels as the Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker Velos Amber, Liberian-flagged oil tanker Bravo and the Marshall Islands-flagged LNG carrier Al Sheehaniya, owned by Qatar.

According to the report, the IRGC Navy warned the vessels that the southern route through the strategic waterway was closed, prompting them to change course and return.

The development came amid escalating naval confrontations between Iran and the United States.

Earlier on Sunday, Iran’s aerospace forces claimed to have struck a US aircraft carrier and a destroyer with several ballistic missiles after alleging that the vessels had harassed Iranian ships and participated in a naval blockade against the country.

The IRGC said the two US military vessels left the conflict zone after sustaining damage. In a statement carried by its official Sepah News outlet, it warned that continued “hostile and aggressive” actions would invite what it described as “formidable” responses from Iranian forces.

On Saturday night, the IRGC Navy said it had targeted three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and three US-affiliated vessels elsewhere in retaliation for US attacks on Iranian tankers earlier that day. It said the three tankers in the strait had been travelling through an “unauthorised” route.

Meanwhile, US Central Command said on X on Saturday that American forces had struck three Iranian crude oil carriers after the IRGC “launched ballistic missiles toward two US Navy warships patrolling regional waters.”
