Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday claimed that the end of Iran’s current regime was near, saying it was “fighting for its life” as Israel continued its military campaign against Iranian and other regional targets.
Netanyahu made the remarks during a Rosh Hashanah toast at a government meeting, where he said Israel had achieved significant military successes with support from the United States.
“As we approach Rosh Hashanah, more than ever, the State of Israel comes first. Thanks to the wise and courageous decisions we made together around this table, thanks to the heroism of our fighters, thanks to the resilience of our people — we have achieved tremendous accomplishments,” the Prime Minister’s Office quoted him as saying.
Netanyahu said Israel was stronger than ever and claimed its adversaries had been weakened. He said Israel and the US had made significant progress in addressing what he described as an existential threat, including Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities.
He warned Israel’s adversaries against testing the country, saying Israel was determined to defend itself and strike those who attacked it.
“I say to our enemies: Do not try us,” Netanyahu said, asserting that Israel was the strongest power in the Middle East.
He also said the Israel Defense Forces was conducting operations against militants in Lebanon, Gaza, Judea and Samaria.
While highlighting what he described as major achievements, Netanyahu said Israel still had another objective to accomplish.
“The achievements are immense, but there is still more to complete. I mean, first and foremost, the toppling of the (Iranian) regime,” he said.
Netanyahu claimed that the Iranian government was weakened and struggling to survive, adding that Israel was determined to pursue what he described as another mission that would “permanently change the face of the Middle East and the history of our people.”
His remarks came amid heightened tensions and ongoing military confrontations between Israel, Iran and their respective allies in the region.
