Singer Palash Sen has come out in support of fellow musician Daler Mehndi amid criticism over the latter’s recent performance at a fair in Uttarakhand, describing him as a close friend and a legendary artist who has dedicated his life to music and philanthropy.
In an Instagram post, Palash shared an emotional note defending Daler against online trolling and criticism following the controversy surrounding his performance at the Kunjapuri Fair on October 18.
“Dear Daler, To the world, you are a legend, a pioneer, and the King of Bhangra who brought joy and unforgettable music to millions across the globe. But to me, you are simply my brother—a person with a heart far bigger and kinder than most will ever know,” Palash wrote.
He said the criticism had overlooked the person behind the public image, highlighting Daler’s contribution to music and culture.
“Seeing the continuous trolling and negativity directed toward you hurts, but it also reminds me of how easy it is for people behind screens to forget the human being behind the icon. They see memes and headlines.. I see a man who has given his entire life, sweat, and soul to spreading happiness, uplifting culture, and serving through his art and philanthropy,” he added.
Palash also pointed out that performers could experience health issues and difficult days, urging people to respond with empathy rather than ridicule.
In the closing section of his message, he made a direct assertion about Daler’s personal habits, writing, “P.S- Daler paaji doesn’t touch alcohol. Never did. Never will.”
Accompanying the note, Palash captioned his post, “Sabse Diler, Mera Bhai Daler. It’s easy to mock, but very tough to be compassionate, empathetic and Sensitive..”
The controversy arose after Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal reportedly interrupted Daler’s performance at the Kunjapuri Fair on October 18. Uniyal alleged that the singer had consumed alcohol before taking the stage during the Navratri celebrations.
Palash’s message comes amid the public criticism directed at Daler following the incident, with the singer’s fellow musician urging people to show compassion and respect.
