An administrative building belonging to Saudi Aramco in Riyadh was targeted in an attempted attack on Sunday, with falling shrapnel causing minor damage but no casualties, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy said.
In a statement posted on its official X account, the ministry said relevant authorities had responded to the incident and taken necessary measures. It did not provide further details about the nature of the attack or those responsible.
The announcement followed a statement by the Saudi-led coalition that it had intercepted two cruise missiles over Riyadh and southern regions, as well as two ballistic missiles launched by Yemen’s Houthi group towards the Saudi capital.
The developments came amid escalating hostilities in Yemen. Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV reported that at least 11 people were killed in airstrikes on Ash Sharyah village in Bani Hushaysh district, east of the capital Sanaa, on Saturday.
The channel claimed that five residential houses were destroyed, with women and children among the victims. The head of the district’s health office said rescue teams had recovered 11 bodies from the rubble, while search operations were continuing and the toll remained preliminary.
Al-Masirah also alleged that Saudi warplanes carried out further strikes targeting rescue workers and roads leading to the village. These reports could not be independently verified, and the Saudi-led coalition had not immediately commented on the allegations.
The latest violence followed an attack on a crowded market in Yemen’s southwestern Taiz province a day earlier, in which at least 30 people were reportedly killed and eight injured. The Houthis and Yemeni government authorities traded accusations over responsibility for that attack.
