Ayodhya, November 8, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said no one would be allowed to undermine Ayodhya’s religious identity, dignity or cultural heritage, invoking the characters of Manthara and Maricha from the Ramayana to warn against attempts to tarnish the holy city’s image.
Extending Diwali greetings to residents, particularly those from deprived and underprivileged communities, Adityanath called for a collective commitment to uphold the ideals of Lord Ram and protect Ayodhya’s cultural heritage.
He also referred to the firing on Ram devotees during previous governments, declaring that such incidents would not be allowed to happen again. He said devotees would face no restrictions on undertaking the Panchkosi, 14-kosi and 84-kosi parikramas.
During his visit, the Chief Minister met families from underprivileged communities, including sanitation workers, boatmen and members of Nishad and Dalit communities. He distributed sweets and Diwali gifts and also honoured municipal councillors for their work.
At a slum settlement near Ramghat Halt, Adityanath acknowledged the contribution of sanitation workers to the successful organisation of Deepotsav and the upkeep of the city.
He said more than 30 lakh diyas had been lit during the previous day’s celebrations and that, despite the large crowds of devotees who visited the ghats and streets, the city was clean when he stepped out on Sunday morning.
The Chief Minister also praised boatmen, particularly members of the Manjhi and Nishad communities, for helping ensure the safety of devotees taking holy dips in the Saryu during festivals, Amavasya and Purnima.
Describing the transformation of Ayodhya as a collective effort, Adityanath said future generations would remember the contributions of those who played a role in building the new city.
