Filmmaker Nikkhil Advani has penned a heartfelt note for superstar Salman Khan, recalling how the actor stood by him during a difficult phase of his career and describing their two-decade-long bond with gratitude.
Advani shared two pictures with Salman on social media and reflected on a moment when he needed the actor’s support the most.
“When I needed him the most he called and put his hand on my shoulder. Suddenly everything seemed not to be so dark anymore. 20 yrs later, when I was proud about the work that I have done and wanted to show it to him, he once again put his hand on my shoulder. I am forever grateful,” Advani wrote, tagging Salman and adding a reference to The Revolutionaries and Bhuvan Bam.
The post came after Salman hosted Advani and Bhuvan Bam at his Galaxy residence, where they watched The Revolutionaries together.
Bhuvan Bam had earlier shared pictures from the screening and thanked Salman for hosting them at his home. He also expressed gratitude to Advani for trusting him with the project and taking the show to Galaxy.
In one of the pictures shared by Advani, Salman is seen putting his arm around the filmmaker’s neck, highlighting their close friendship. The second photograph was taken during their recent screening of The Revolutionaries.
Advani and Salman’s professional association dates back to 2007, when Advani directed the multi-starrer romantic drama Salaam-e-Ishq. Salman featured in the film alongside Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Akshaye Khanna, John Abraham, Vidya Balan and Govinda, among others.
Their collaboration continued with Hero in 2015, which Advani directed and Salman co-produced. The film marked the acting debuts of Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty. According to Advani, Salman was also closely involved with the project, including its casting, music and editing.
Advani’s directorial credits include Kal Ho Naa Ho, Chandni Chowk to China, Patiala House, D-Day, Katti Batti and Vedaa. As a producer, he has been associated with projects including Airlift, while his television work includes Mumbai Diaries, Rocket Boys and Freedom at Midnight.
