Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka appeared before the Delhi Police Crime Branch in Rajouri Garden on Thursday for questioning in connection with the Jantar Mantar protest case.
The two activists had been summoned to report to the Crime Branch office at noon. They had also received summons in October but did not appear at the time, subsequently seeking additional time to join the investigation.
The cases were transferred to the Crime Branch in October and relate to an incident on October 13, when Das, Ranka, Ajinkya Shinde and 11 others allegedly entered Jantar Mantar, which had been de-notified as a designated protest site.
Delhi Police detained all those involved. While Shinde was released on a bail bond, Das and Ranka spent a week in judicial custody.

Das and Ranka were released from Tihar Jail on October 21 after furnishing personal bonds and surety bonds of Rs 50,000 each before Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) Ritu Raj. Their release was subject to written undertakings to maintain peace and refrain from calling for protests at Jantar Mantar until the site is formally de-notified in accordance with the law.
In their undertakings, the activists pledged not to disturb public peace and expressed faith in the judiciary and its institutions.
The SEM observed that the preventive requirements under Section 135(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) could be met through the execution of bonds backed by the written undertakings.
