The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Rohtak, has arrested a clerk posted at the Zonal Marketing Enforcement Office (ZMEO) in New Anaj Mandi, Rohtak, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 for facilitating the issuance of a licence.
The accused, identified as clerk Rakesh, was allegedly caught accepting the bribe from a complainant during a trap operation conducted by the bureau.
A case has been registered at the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau police station in Rohtak under FIR No. 28 dated September 17, 2026, under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
According to the complaint, the complainant operates an agro-food company in Narela and had applied for a licence for a zone under the Panipat Market Committee. The application file was prepared and submitted to the market committee before being forwarded to the ZMEO office in Rohtak for further action.
When the complainant visited the ZMEO office at New Anaj Mandi to enquire about the status of the application, clerk Rakesh allegedly demanded Rs 40,000 for getting the licence issued.
After receiving the complaint, the Vigilance Bureau verified the allegations and constituted a raiding team. During the operation, the accused clerk was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting Rs 40,000 from the complainant.
The bureau said the trap proceedings were conducted transparently in the presence of independent witnesses.
State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Haryana, Director Dr A.S. Chawla said that no person involved in corruption would be spared and that action would be taken according to law.
He said the bureau’s campaign against corruption would continue and that officers and personnel had been directed to act promptly and seriously on complaints involving demands for bribes.
Dr Chawla appealed to the public to immediately report any demand for a bribe by a government official or employee in exchange for carrying out official work.
