Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Thursday highlighted what he described as major achievements of the Narendra Modi government on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday, saying India’s global recognition and stature had increased significantly.
Ramdev said people across the country were marking the occasion by wishing the Prime Minister well and lighting lamps at homes, temples and rooftops.
“Millions of countrymen are wishing respected PM Narendra Modi a happy birthday. People are lighting lamps in their homes, temples and on their rooftops, wishing him a long and prosperous life,” Ramdev told reporters.
He said Modi had promoted yoga, Ayurveda, Sanatan Dharma and nationalism while pursuing the goal of taking India towards greater prosperity and focusing on the welfare of different sections of society.
Ramdev cited the abrogation of Article 370, the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the goal of building a developed India and India’s growing international recognition among the major achievements of Modi’s tenure.
He also said the international honours received by the Prime Minister reflected what he described as India’s increasing influence globally.
Ramdev pointed to several government schemes, including the Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and housing programmes, saying they had benefited millions of people.
He cited around 560 million tap connections, food security for approximately 800 million people, healthcare coverage for around 440 million people under Ayushman Bharat, nearly 120 million toilets and housing for about 40 million poor families as major achievements.
He also highlighted the expansion of roads, highways, airports and other infrastructure across the country.
Citing the Haridwar-Delhi journey as an example, Ramdev said travel that earlier took around six to eight hours could now be completed in approximately two-and-a-half hours.
Wishing Modi a long and healthy life and continued success in his service to the nation, Ramdev also called upon citizens to fulfil their responsibilities towards the goal of a developed India.
Meanwhile, Swami Chidanand Saraswati, president of Parmarth Niketan Ashram, also extended birthday greetings to Modi from the banks of the Ganga in Uttarakhand.
“Today, from the sacred banks of Maa Ganga, from Parmarth Niketan, from the land of the Himalayas in Uttarakhand, heartfelt birthday wishes to the Vishwakarma of modern India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.
Chidanand Saraswati wished the Prime Minister long life, good health and continued energy in the service of the nation, invoking the blessings of Lord Vishwakarma on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti.
The statements came as Modi turned 76 on Thursday, with leaders and public figures across India extending birthday greetings to him.
