ADGP Praveen Kumar Sinha Gets Additional Charge as Chief Director of VB
The Punjab Government has appointed IPS officer Praveen Kumar Sinha, currently serving as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) NRI Punjab and ADGP Intelligence, as the new Chief Director of the Vigilance Bureau, Punjab, SAS Nagar. This appointment, effective immediately, comes as an additional charge for ADGP Sinha.
The decision to entrust ADGP Sinha with this crucial role follows the suspension earlier today of the previous Vigilance Bureau Chief Director, SPS Parmar, along with a Vigilance Bureau SSP and an AIG. These suspensions were a direct consequence of alleged inaction in the ongoing Driving License Scam investigation.
The other suspended officers include SSP Vigilance, Jalandhar, Harpreet Singh Mander, and AIG Flying Squad Vigilance Bureau, Swarandeep Singh.
The swift appointment of ADGP Praveen Sinha underscores the Punjab Government’s commitment to ensuring a thorough and impartial investigation into the Driving License Scam. SPS Parmar had been appointed to the Chief Director position on March 26, 2025, succeeding Nageshwara Rao IPS.
The suspension of an ADGP-rank officer serving as the Vigilance Bureau Chief Director is an unprecedented move, highlighting the gravity of the situation and the government’s determination to address any potential compromise of the probe.
Prior to his brief stint as Vigilance Bureau Chief Director, SPS Parmar held the position of Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) and also headed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged assault on an Army Colonel and his son in Patiala. Parmar’s career saw him rise through the state police service, eventually being elevated to the IPS in 2012 with seniority recognized from 1997.
Now, ADGP Praveen Sinha steps into this critical role, tasked with leading the Vigilance Bureau and ensuring the integrity of the investigation into the Driving License Scam.
