Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has opened up about his experience with online trolling, revealing that derogatory comments on social media made him reduce the frequency of his posts.
The veteran actor shared his experience on the quiz reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati while interacting with a contestant named Vinamra, who sought his advice on dealing with negativity online. The contestant said that people of his generation often struggled to handle criticism on social media.
Responding to the question, Bachchan recalled that he had initially viewed social media as an excellent platform to express his thoughts freely. However, his approach changed when he began reading the comments posted by users.
“Initially, I thought this was a very good platform where I could express what was in my heart. But when I started reading the comments, I stopped writing as much,” Bachchan said.
Recalling some of the remarks he encountered, the actor said users would question him with comments such as, “What does he think of himself, this old man? Why is he talking like this?”
Bachchan said the language used in such comments felt strange to him, prompting him to become less active in posting his thoughts online.
Despite the negativity, the actor ended the conversation on a humorous note, leaving the contestant and the studio audience laughing.
“And let me tell you one thing. Ever since I started writing less, my followers have continued to increase,” he remarked.
Bachchan, who celebrated his 84th birthday on October 11, has maintained a significant digital presence over the years. He began writing his personal blog in 2008 and has remained active across various online platforms.
His remarks highlighted the challenges public figures can face while engaging with audiences on social media, where direct interaction can expose them to both appreciation and harsh criticism.
