Dhuri, October 11, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday said his government had earned the trust of the people through its work over the past four-and-a-half years, highlighting daytime electricity for farmers, expanded canal irrigation, government jobs, free healthcare and electricity relief as key achievements.

Addressing a Lok Milni programme at Mimsa village in the Dhuri Assembly constituency, Mann said his government was focused on public welfare and ensuring that money from the state exchequer was spent on development and services for the people.

He said the government’s initiatives were providing financial relief to households, improving public services and supporting farmers. He also accused political opponents of attempting to damage his reputation because, according to him, they could not challenge his honesty and record of work.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister said the public gathering in Mimsa reflected the affection and support he had received from the people of Dhuri. He asserted that, unlike previous governments that made promises, his government had delivered results on the ground.

Government Highlights Jobs, Electricity and Welfare Schemes

Mann said more than 70,000 government jobs had been provided to young people without corruption. He also highlighted improvements in schools, hospitals and roads, along with the closure of toll plazas that he said had been costing commuters unnecessarily.

According to the Chief Minister, the closure of these toll plazas was saving commuters around ₹70 lakh daily. He added that the government was developing villages and constructing sports stadiums to encourage young people to participate in sports.

Mann claimed that more than 90 per cent of households were receiving free electricity and said farmers were now getting electricity during the daytime, which he described as a significant change in Punjab’s agricultural power supply.

He also said government schemes were helping families save around ₹15,000 per month. In addition, he asserted that farmers would receive payment for their paddy directly into their bank accounts before returning home from the mandis.

Canal Irrigation Extended to More Villages

Highlighting the government’s irrigation initiatives, Mann said canal water had reached the fields of 1,587 villages that had not received it earlier.

He said ₹7,200 crore had been spent on expanding irrigation infrastructure, adding that the area receiving canal water had increased from 20.89 lakh acres in 2022 to 60.30 lakh acres.

The Chief Minister said reliable irrigation was important for reducing farmers’ dependence on other sources of water and easing their financial burden. He maintained that the government would continue prioritising agricultural development and public welfare.

Cashless Healthcare Cover of Up to ₹10 Lakh

Mann said the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna was aimed at ensuring that families could access medical treatment without worrying about hospital expenses.

Under the scheme, he said, eligible families were being provided cashless treatment coverage of up to ₹10 lakh per family.

He also highlighted the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, under which eligible women aged 18 and above would receive monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000, while Scheduled Caste women would receive ₹1,500, starting July 1.

According to Mann, the assistance would be transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts. Women already receiving social security pensions would also be eligible, he said.

The Chief Minister added that the scheme was expected to benefit 97 per cent of women in Punjab, with ₹9,300 crore allocated in the state budget.

He said the initiative was intended to provide financial support to women and recognise their dignity and contribution to families.

Government Schools and Education Reforms

The Chief Minister said education was essential to breaking the cycle of poverty and improving living standards. He highlighted teacher training, Schools of Eminence and other initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education in government institutions.

Mann said the number of students from government schools qualifying for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) had risen from 80 in 2021 to 882 in 2026.

He said the government wanted students from ordinary families to have access to quality education and compete with their counterparts across the country.

According to the Chief Minister, strengthening government schools was central to creating opportunities for future generations and improving social mobility.

Mann Targets Political Opponents, Refers to CBI Raid

Taking aim at his political opponents, Mann alleged that those unable to challenge his government’s work were resorting to personal attacks and attempts to tarnish his image.

“When they cannot find fault with my work or challenge my integrity, they try to defame me. My honesty has become a problem for those accustomed to politics driven by vested interests. But the people of Punjab know the truth, and no amount of political propaganda can erase the work we have done for them,” he said.

Referring to a raid by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at his office, the Chief Minister alleged that the BJP had attempted to intimidate him but the agency had returned empty-handed.

“The BJP thought that raids and pressure would intimidate me, but the CBI returned empty-handed after the raid at my office. I will never compromise on the interests of Punjab and its people. My strength comes from the trust of the people, and I will continue to serve them with honesty and determination,” Mann said.

CM Says Doors Will Remain Open to People

Mann said elected representatives should remain accessible to the public and listen directly to people’s grievances rather than confining themselves to offices and formal meetings.

He reiterated that his doors had always been open to the people of Punjab and would remain so in the future.

“The people of Punjab are not outsiders to me; they are my own family. My doors have always been open to them and will always remain open. The real purpose of holding public office is to listen to people’s grievances, understand their problems and work towards finding solutions,” he said.

The Chief Minister said his government would continue to focus on development, transparency and accountability, adding that its stated objective was to build a prosperous Punjab where people from every section of society could live with dignity and confidence.
