Actor and former reality show contestant Bani J is returning to ‘Roadies’ in a new role, nearly two decades after making her debut on the show as an 18-year-old contestant. This time, she will join the lineup as a Gang Leader in the NewGs team.
Bani first appeared in the fourth season of ‘Roadies’, where her outspoken personality and competitive spirit made her one of the season’s memorable contestants. She finished as the first runner-up.
Reflecting on her journey, Bani said the show had evolved over the years, while her own experiences with it had also changed.
“Coming back as a NewG is definitely an interesting feeling. I’ve experienced this show from so many different perspectives – as a contestant, a host, and now as a Gang Leader. Each role has taught me something different, and that’s what makes returning so special,” she said.
She added that she was looking forward to building a strong gang and meeting the contestants joining the latest edition.
Describing the challenges ahead, Bani said being a Roadie meant earning one’s place in the competition every day. She expects the OGs-versus-NewGs format to bring greater unpredictability, new rivalries and changing team dynamics.
“Let’s see who actually has the guts to rise from the ashes,” she said.
The latest season introduces an OGs versus NewGs format, with six Gang Leaders divided into two competing teams. Bani will join Abhishek Malhan and Baseer Ali in the NewGs team, which will take on the OGs — Nikhil Chinapa, Neha Dhupia and Prince Narula.
After ‘Roadies’, Bani made her Bollywood debut at 19 and went on to become a popular MTV VJ. She has worked in Bollywood, Punjabi, Kollywood and Tollywood films, and participated in reality shows including ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 4’ and ‘Bigg Boss 10’.
She also received attention for her portrayal of Umang Singh in Amazon Prime Video’s series ‘Four More Shots Please!’.
