Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has shared a fascinating anecdote about Sara Ali Khan’s family, recalling how her great-grandmother, Sajida Sultan, used to drive a white open-air Jaguar in Delhi at a time when it was uncommon for women to be behind the wheel.
The revelation came during Sara’s appearance on the popular quiz-based reality show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’.
Speaking about the Pataudi family’s legacy, Amitabh recalled that Sajida Sultan, mother of legendary cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, popularly known as Tiger Pataudi, would drive the luxury car with great pride and elegance.
“Tiger’s mother, who belonged to Bhopal, used to drive a white open-air Jaguar in Delhi. She would sit behind the wheel and drive with great pride,” he said, recalling the days when such a sight was rare.
Sara appeared surprised by the revelation and responded that she was unaware of the anecdote. Amitabh then added that he had personally seen her great-grandmother.
The veteran actor also complimented the striking eyes of the Pataudi family, saying he had always found them beautiful.
“Everyone in your family has very beautiful eyes. From Tiger to the present generation, there is something special about your eyes, which I like very much,” he told Sara.
The Pataudi family has a prominent legacy spanning royalty, cricket and cinema. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was one of India’s celebrated cricket captains, while his wife, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, is among the leading names in Hindi cinema.
Sara is the daughter of actors Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh and belongs to the younger generation of the Pataudi family.
