Actor Saif Ali Khan has recalled how the knife attack at his Mumbai residence in January 2025 affected his young son Jeh, revealing that the child gave him a plastic sword and asked him to use it if the intruder returned.
Speaking on ‘Koffee with Karan’, Saif said Jeh, who witnessed the confrontation, continued to keep the toy sword with his father for months after the incident.
“Jeh gave me his plastic sword and said, ‘Next time that thief comes, use this.’ For a couple of months after that, he kind of kept the plastic sword with me,” Saif recalled.
The actor said his son viewed him as a protector because he had witnessed the fight. “He thinks I am a great protector. He thinks I am Iron Man,” he added.
Recalling the frightening moments, Saif said the attacker had been standing over Jeh with a knife, prompting him to confront the intruder. He suffered multiple injuries, including cuts to his neck and wounds to his back.
Saif said he was stabbed around 10 times during the struggle, which unfolded very quickly. After the initial confrontation, he and their household help, Hari, attempted to remove decorative swords from the wall, fearing there could be more attackers inside the house.
However, his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan intervened and insisted that he be taken to hospital instead of returning to confront the intruder.
Kareena recalled that Saif was bleeding heavily and struggling to walk. She also spoke about the psychological impact of the incident, saying she had difficulty sleeping for around six months afterwards.
Saif said the experience reinforced his belief that people need to take security more seriously, adding that the world seemed less safe than it had been when they were younger.
The attack took place in January 2025, when an intruder entered the couple’s Mumbai residence and stabbed Saif during a confrontation.
