Bengaluru, November 4, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Bengaluru Police are preparing to search the Delhi residence of JD(S) leader and Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy in connection with the alleged fabricated sting operation targeting former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, police said on Wednesday.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh has held a meeting with senior officers to discuss the next course of action. The proposed search follows the questioning of Prajwal Prasad, Kumaraswamy’s social media public relations representative, by the Central Crime Branch (CCB).

Prasad appeared before investigators on Tuesday and reportedly denied involvement, saying he learnt about the incident through social media and did not know content creator Ritesh Kumar Pandey. Police seized his mobile phone and sent it for forensic examination. Prasad, who has obtained interim bail, is accused of handing over a phone to Pandey at Kumaraswamy’s official residence in New Delhi.

Police Commissioner Singh said the mobile phone allegedly used to upload the sting video was purchased in Delhi and brought to Kumaraswamy’s official residence on Kushak Road. According to the investigation, Pandey, who was arrested in New Delhi, disclosed that he had purchased the device in Karol Bagh with Vinod Sharma, allegedly on Prasad’s instructions. The phone was subsequently taken to the minister’s residence and allegedly handed over to Prasad.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Minister for Kannada and Culture Shivaraj Tangadagi criticised Kumaraswamy over his statements on the case. He alleged that the sting operation had been publicised through the Union Minister’s office and questioned whether Kumaraswamy had been involved in carrying it out.

Tangadagi also accused Kumaraswamy of attempting to create differences between Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah. “The video was uploaded and publicised by Kumaraswamy. He has admitted to it. Is it not shameful for a former Chief Minister to indulge in such activities?” Tangadagi asked.
