Actress Hina Khan has expressed happiness over the marriage of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and journalist Nidhi Razdan, praising the politician for standing by his partner and choosing love despite the possibility of political consequences.
Reacting to the couple’s wedding on social media, the ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ actress described Abdullah’s decision as an act of courage and said he had not turned his back on Razdan.
“Awwwwww Mohabbat! So, so happy for them. He’s a Chief Minister, but he did not turn his back on her. He had her back. Bro, this man has got a rock-solid spine,” Hina wrote.
She further suggested that Abdullah might not secure another term in office but said that his personal choices should not be dictated by electoral prospects.
“He may not be elected in the next term.. BUTTT who cares. He chose love. He chose her. He proved ki Duniya gayi bhaad mai. Respect,” she added.
Hina also addressed those questioning the relationship on religious grounds, urging them not to interfere in other people’s personal lives.
“Also mazhab ke thekedaaron, little piece of advice, jiyo aur jeene do. Let the Almighty decide their fate. Aap Khuda nahi hain,” she wrote.
Omar Abdullah and Nidhi Razdan announced their marriage through social media posts on October 31. Abdullah shared photographs of the couple on X with the caption, “A new journey began yesterday,” while tagging Razdan.
The wedding was reportedly preceded by an intimate gathering in Srinagar attended by close family members.
Abdullah’s previous marriage to Payal Abdullah, with whom he has two sons, had been the subject of prolonged legal proceedings. The Supreme Court formally dissolved the marriage in July after the estranged couple reached an agreement and jointly sought divorce by mutual consent.
