Actor Sanjay Dutt has pledged to fulfil the late filmmaker Sanjay Gupta’s dream of making Kaante 2, promising to do everything possible to bring the sequel to the screen in memory of his close friend.
Dutt shared an emotional tribute to Gupta on X following the filmmaker’s death, recalling their long friendship, shared memories and conversations about cinema. Alongside a series of photographs, the actor described Gupta as a brother and said his absence would leave a lasting void.
“We were just discussing Kante 2 recently. I will make Kaante 2 your dream, in memory of you my brother. I will do everything for this dream of yours to come true,” Dutt wrote.
He also recalled the years they spent together, saying Gupta had always been family to him and that he would miss their conversations and the time they shared.
One of the photographs posted by Dutt appears to capture a celebration, with the actor feeding cake to Gupta while Amitabh Bachchan stands beside them.
Dutt and Gupta shared a long professional association, collaborating on several films, including Aatish: Feel the Fire (1994), Kaante (2002), Musafir (2004), Zinda (2006) and Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007).
Their 2002 action thriller Kaante, featuring Dutt, Amitabh Bachchan, Suniel Shetty, Mahesh Manjrekar, Lucky Ali and Kumar Gaurav, remains one of their best-known collaborations.
