Several Pakistani security personnel were reportedly killed or injured after multiple military convoys came under attack in Balochistan’s Kech, Kharan and Mastung districts, while armed fighters blocked the Quetta–Taftan highway and set a vehicle on fire, local media reported on Wednesday, citing sources.
In the latest incident, unidentified armed men attacked a two-vehicle security forces convoy in the Noduz area of Kech on Wednesday. Initial reports indicated casualties and losses to the forces, though details were not available.
Earlier, on Monday, an army convoy was ambushed near Madina Hotel along the Quetta–Karachi highway in Mastung. Another convoy came under attack at Nauroz Kalat, near the Zomi area of Kharan. The number of personnel killed or injured in these incidents was not immediately known.
In a separate incident, armed fighters reportedly set up a roadblock in Dalbandin’s Pashuk area along the Quetta–Taftan highway, intercepted a vehicle and set it ablaze, The Balochistan Post reported. No group has claimed responsibility for the latest attacks.
The incidents follow a series of attacks earlier this week in Nushki and Kharan, where security personnel travelling on foot and in vehicles were targeted in Nushki’s Ahmad Wal area, while an explosion struck a military vehicle in Kharan. Local sources said mines laid across the area were restricting security forces’ movement.
Earlier clashes in Kharan’s Lijay area reportedly left eight Pakistani military personnel killed or injured after a vehicle was hit by a blast, followed by further fighting. A quadcopter was also shot down during the clashes.
Meanwhile, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) claimed responsibility for killing more than 129 Pakistani military and intelligence personnel and seriously injuring over 30 others in 25 operations across the province in October.
In its monthly report released on Sunday, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said the operations included ‘Operation Almas’ in Gwadar district, during which the group claimed to have killed more than 80 military and intelligence personnel and injured dozens.
