Actress Chitrashi Rawat has taken fans on a nostalgic trip by sharing glimpses of a reunion with her Chak De! India co-stars Vidya Malvade, Shubhi Mehta and Seema Azmi, celebrating the lasting bond they share since the 2007 sports drama.
Sharing a series of pictures from the get-together, Chitrashi captioned the post, “2006 forever. Still laughing, still pulling each other’s legs, still a little bit of a team. Sisterhood of another kind. Missing a few of our girls here. #ChakDeGirls”.
One of the pictures shows the actresses sitting together and laughing, with Chitrashi posing alongside her former co-stars. The reunion offered a glimpse into the friendship the actors have maintained over the years.
Chitrashi, who played the spirited Komal Chautala in the film, has reunited with her former co-stars on several occasions. The Chak De! India cast had also come together for her wedding to Dhruvaditya Bhagwanani in 2023, with pictures featuring Vidya Malvade, Shubhi Mehta, Seema Azmi and other cast members subsequently surfacing online.
Directed by Shimit Amin and produced by Yash Raj Films, Chak De! India was released on August 10, 2007. The film starred Shah Rukh Khan as Kabir Khan, a former captain of the Indian men’s hockey team who gets an opportunity to redeem himself by coaching the Indian women’s hockey team.
The sports drama featured an ensemble cast of 16 actresses portraying members of the women’s hockey team. Vidya Malvade played team captain and goalkeeper Vidya Sharma, Shilpa Shukla portrayed Bindiya Naik, Sagarika Ghatge appeared as Preeti Sabarwal, Chitrashi Rawat played Komal Chautala, and Tanya Abrol portrayed Balbir Kaur.
The team also included Anaitha Nair as Aliya Bose, Shubhi Mehta as Gunjan Lakhani, Seema Azmi as Rani Dispotta and Nisha Nair as Soimoi Kerketa.
The film’s soundtrack, composed by Salim-Sulaiman with lyrics by Jaideep Sahni, also contributed to its enduring popularity. It featured the title track Chak De! India, sung by Sukhwinder Singh, Salim Merchant and Marianne D’Cruz, along with songs such as Badal Pe Paon Hain, Ek Hockey Doongi Rakh Ke, Bad Bad Girls, Maula Mere Lele Meri Jaan and Sattar Minute.
