Consumers will have to pay more for Amul ghee and butter following a nationwide price revision by the dairy cooperative, with the 1-kg ghee carton becoming costlier by Rs 50 and the 500-gm butter pack by Rs 15.
The revised prices have come into immediate effect and are being reflected on product labels, at retail outlets and on online shopping platforms.
Under the new rates, Amul’s 1-kg ghee carton will cost Rs 680, up from Rs 630. The price of its 500-gm pure ghee pouch has increased from Rs 325 to Rs 345, a rise of Rs 20.
Butter prices have also been revised across pack sizes. The 100-gm pack will now sell for Rs 66 against the earlier Rs 63, while the 500-gm pack has gone up from Rs 310 to Rs 325.
The increase affects consumers buying the dairy brand’s ghee and butter products across the country, coming at a time when demand for these items typically rises during the festive season.
The latest revision follows a Rs 2-per-litre increase in the prices of Amul’s fresh milk variants in May this year. The hike, effective May 14, covered major products, including Gold, Taaza, Shakti and Cow Milk.
At the time, the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets products under the Amul brand, cited rising costs of cattle feed, packaging materials and fuel, along with higher milk procurement prices paid to dairy farmers by member unions.
The May revision translated into an increase of around 2.5 to 3.5 per cent per litre.
