Netflix’s romantic drama series The Royals is returning with its second season, as filming has officially begun with Ishaan Khatter, Zeenat Aman and other cast members reprising their roles.
Sakshi Tanwar, Vihaan Samat and Kavya Trehan will also return to the world of Morpur, with Nitya Mehra and Tanuj Chopra directing the new season.
Creators Rangita Pritish Nandy and Ishita Pritish Nandy said the response to the first season had made the journey special and expressed excitement about bringing back the characters and expanding the story.
They said Season 2 would take the romance, humour and family drama further, with more surprises and complicated relationships.
Tanya Bami, Series Head, Netflix India, said the show’s combination of Indian royalty, forbidden romance and modern themes of love, ambition, family and identity had connected with viewers.
She said the first season featured in Netflix’s Global Top 10 Non-English TV Shows across 58 countries. The upcoming season will explore Morpur further, introducing new relationships, rivalries and characters.
