Washington, October 13, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Kimberly Guilfoyle has denied allegations against her as “false” and indicated that her tenure as US Ambassador to Greece may be ending, following the White House’s announcement that it had asked her to resign.

In a statement posted on social media platform X on Tuesday, Guilfoyle said she intended to defend her name, reputation and integrity, insisting that the allegations would not define her decades of public service.

“While my time as Ambassador may be coming to an end, my commitment to President Trump, the America First movement, and the country I love will never end,” she said.

Guilfoyle thanked President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for entrusting her with the diplomatic assignment, describing it as the “honour of a lifetime”.

She also highlighted what she called key achievements during her tenure, including agreements to expand US liquefied natural gas exports to Europe, efforts to advance the Vertical Corridor to reduce European dependence on Russian energy, stronger defence and security cooperation with Greece, and expanded opportunities for American businesses and investors.

Earlier, White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia told reporters that the administration had asked Guilfoyle to step down, describing her as a valuable member of the team and wishing her well.

Trump, speaking to reporters before departing for Alaska, said he had not spoken to Guilfoyle but indicated she would no longer serve in the post. He added that the administration was unhappy with reports it had read about her.

The move follows reports that Guilfoyle asked businessman Eric Deters for $100,000 in July 2025 to pay an American Express bill. Deters reportedly characterised the request as “pay to play”. Guilfoyle’s representatives subsequently said he owed her approximately $150,000 for speaking engagements and consulting work undertaken before her ambassadorship.

Democratic lawmakers on the Senate and House foreign affairs committees have called for a State Department investigation into her conduct in Greece.

A former Fox News host, Guilfoyle was appointed ambassador by Trump in December 2024. She was previously married to California Governor Gavin Newsom.

The White House and the State Department have not announced who will lead the US Embassy in Athens on an interim basis.
