New Delhi, October 14, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has seen another prominent associate announce her departure, with Abhinandita Dayal Mathur, who served as Cultural Advisor to former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, confirming that she is no longer associated with the party.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Mathur said she had been inactive for several months and no longer held any official position in AAP. She said she was clarifying her status after receiving calls from media organisations seeking her response about her association with the party.

“With mixed feelings, I would like to share that I am no longer part of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP),” Mathur wrote.

Reflecting on her time with the party, she expressed gratitude for the opportunities she had received, the people she had met and the friendships she had developed during her political journey.

“I will always remain grateful for the opportunities I was given, the wonderful people I met, and the friendships I made along the way,” she said.

Mathur added that her association with AAP had provided valuable lessons about politics, including its challenges and demands.

“I learnt a great deal from the party’s leadership and its selfless volunteers. I also learnt just how difficult and demanding politics can be,” she said, adding that she looked back on her time with the party with gratitude and respect.

Her announcement comes amid other recent departures from AAP, including that of former national chief spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar, who left the party and joined the Congress.

Kakkar, who joined AAP in 2013, had emerged as one of its prominent public representatives, frequently defending the party’s position at press conferences and television debates.

Explaining her decision to leave, Kakkar said she wanted to contribute towards building a green, clean, progressive and safe Delhi after spending more than a decade in politics.

Earlier in October, she also criticised former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi in a post on X, alleging that the party’s leadership was damaging the organisation.

“They won’t stop until they’ve completely ruined the party. I guarantee that,” Kakkar wrote.

Mathur’s departure adds to the recent changes in AAP’s ranks, although she clarified that she had already been inactive in the party for several months.
