The makers of the much-anticipated epic film Ramayana: Part 1, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, have announced November 5, 2026, as its worldwide theatrical release date, ahead of Diwali.
On Sunday, the makers unveiled a new ensemble poster on Instagram featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Yash as Ravana. They also confirmed that advance bookings for the film will open on Dussehra.
Announcing the release, the makers wrote, “On the auspicious occasion of Navratri, we celebrate the beginning of a new era. Yeh Ram ke Yug ka Aarambh hai. Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana Part 1: In cinemas WORLDWIDE, across all premium formats, from 5th November. Advance bookings open on Dussehra.”
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is being developed as a two-part cinematic epic. The project is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with DNEG, an eight-time Oscar-winning visual effects company, and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.
While Ramayana: Part 1 is scheduled to arrive in cinemas worldwide on November 5, 2026, Ramayana: Part 2 is slated for release during Diwali 2027. The films are planned for release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam across India.
The ambitious project seeks to bring Indian mythology to the big screen through large-scale visual effects and an expansive cinematic presentation. Its music is being composed by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer.
The film will also release in IMAX, with Sony Pictures handling global distribution and Dharma Productions distributing it in the Hindi-speaking market.
With its star-studded cast, large-scale production and retelling of one of India’s most revered epics, Ramayana: Part 1 is among the most anticipated upcoming releases in Indian cinema.
