The Miri-Piri Khalsa March on Tuesday resumed its third phase from Gurdwara Burj Sahib in Dhariwal amid Sikh religious fervour and the chanting of jaikaras, proceeding towards Gurdwara Patshahi Panjvi Othian in Batala.

The march began in the presence of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Jathedar Giani Tek Singh, Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib Granthi Giani Gurminder Singh and a large gathering of devotees.

Addressing the gathering, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj said the sixth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib, gave practical expression to the Miri-Piri principle by carrying two swords and presented the world with the concept of the Sant-Sipahi. He said the establishment of Sri Akal Takht Sahib inspired Sikhs to stand against injustice and oppression.

He said the teachings of the Sikh Gurus, including “Naam Japo, Kirat Karo, Vand Chhako”, combine spiritual values with a sense of social responsibility. He highlighted the sacrifices made by the Sikh community in its struggles against oppression and said the Miri-Piri Khalsa March seeks to reinforce the message of living according to the Guru’s principles through Naam, Gurbani, seva and sangat.

Giani Gargajj also stressed the need to protect Punjab’s youth from drugs and connect them with Gurbani, GurSikhi and sports. He called for collective efforts against forces that push young people towards drug abuse.

During the programme, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj and Giani Tek Singh honoured the Panj Pyare and Nishanchi Singhs with siropas. Giani Gurminder Singh performed the seva of placing the sacred saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in the palki sahib.
