The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) has issued a three-day show-cause notice to former Ghanaur MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur over his alleged remarks against the Congress high command and senior party leadership during a gathering held outside the residence of former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi in Morinda.
The notice has been issued by Avtar Henry, Chairman of the PPCC Disciplinary Committee.
According to the notice, the party has received a complaint alleging that Jalalpur made objectionable and anti-party statements against the Congress High Command, AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, and AICC Punjab Affairs In-charge Bhupesh Baghel during the Morinda gathering.
The meeting at Channi’s residence was attended by a section of Congress leaders who have been expressing dissatisfaction with the continuation of Amarinder Singh Raja Warring as Punjab Congress president.
The disciplinary committee has informed Jalalpur that a copy of the relevant video recording of his remarks has also been forwarded to him for reference.
The notice directs the former MLA to submit his explanation within three days of receiving the communication.
It states that if Jalalpur fails to furnish a satisfactory reply within the stipulated period, the Punjab Congress will be free to initiate disciplinary proceedings against him in accordance with the party constitution.
The show-cause notice, dated July 6, 2026, has been signed by Avtar Henry, Chairman of the PPCC Disciplinary Committee.
