Deputy Election Commissioner of the Election Commission of India (ECI), Bhanu Prakash Yeturu, IAS, on Sunday chaired a high-level review meeting in Mohali to assess the progress of the ongoing house-to-house distribution and collection of enumeration forms being carried out under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of electoral rolls in Punjab.
The meeting was attended by Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Punjab, Anindita Mitra, IAS, along with Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers from Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib, Mansa, Patiala, Rupnagar, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali), Barnala and Sangrur.
During the meeting, the Election Commission reviewed the status of the ongoing field exercise, with particular focus on the house-to-house distribution and collection of enumeration forms as part of the Special Intensive Revision process aimed at updating and strengthening the electoral rolls ahead of future elections.
Officials from the participating districts briefed the Deputy Election Commissioner on the progress of the exercise and other aspects related to the revision process.
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is a comprehensive electoral roll revision programme undertaken by the Election Commission to ensure that electoral rolls remain accurate, inclusive and up to date by verifying voter details through extensive field-level verification.
