Delhi L-G, CM review measures for child protection

New Delhi, July 6, 2026
Reaffirming the commitment to citizen-centric governance, Delhi Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday reviewed the launch and implementation of various measures and campaigns under ‘Child Protection Month’.

During the meeting, attended by Chief Secretary Rajeev Verma and Police Commissioner Satish Golcha, Sandhu issued directions to be implemented for child protection as a sustained priority.

As part of the review, the Directorate of Education shared information on Child Safety and the POCSO Guidelines for Schools, the official statement said.

Later, Sandhu said on X, “Reviewed the initiatives and campaigns being undertaken across departments during a high-level meeting on the ongoing Child Protection Month with Hon’ble Chief Minister Smt. @gupta_rekha, Chief Secretary, @CPDelhi, and other senior officials.”

“Directed @DelhiPolice to ensure prompt and thorough action in all cases registered under the POCSO Act, with seamless coordination among all concerned departments. Issued directions for the proposed measures to be implemented not only during Child Protection Month but as a sustained priority,” said Sandhu.

“Also emphasised counselling and rehabilitation for juvenile first-time offenders to provide them an opportunity for reform and reintegration, while reinforcing the important role of parents and teachers as the first line of protection for every child. Reaffirmed our government’s unwavering commitment to citizen-centric governance, placing the safety, dignity, and well-being of every child at its core,” said the Lieutenant Governor.

Earlier, Sandhu led discussions on the Capital’s upcoming Master Plan while chairing a meeting of the Advisory Council of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).

The discussions focused on sustainable urban development in the National Capital.

The L-G said on X, “We held wide-ranging deliberations on the upcoming Master Plan of Delhi, strengthening civic and institutional frameworks, and ensuring planned, inclusive, and future-ready growth for the city.”

“Directed @official_dda to maintain zero tolerance against illegal encroachments and unauthorised constructions by leveraging technology for real-time monitoring of land parcels and buildings, enabling prompt detection and swift enforcement,” said Sandhu.(Agency)
