Member of Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla visited the residence of the late Niranjan Singh, affectionately known as “Nanji Chacha” among generations of Khalsa College students, to express his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
Aujla said that Nanji Chacha was much more than an individual; he was an inseparable part of the memories of thousands of students who studied at Khalsa College. He remarked that while the institution imparted quality education, personalities like Nanji Chacha taught students invaluable life lessons through their humility, kindness, honesty, and selfless service.
Recalling his association with Nanji Chacha, Aujla said he was always ready to help everyone with a smile and was admired for his simplicity, warmth, and caring nature. “No one ever saw him lose his temper. He treated every student like a member of his own family and was always there whenever someone needed assistance,” he said.
He added that although mobile phones and social media have transformed communication today, there was a time when Nanji Chacha was the first person to know about the joys and hardships of students on the Khalsa College campus. He would go out of his way to help them within his means, earning immense love and respect from generations of students, many of whom are now settled across India and abroad.
Aujla said the news of Nanji Chacha’s demise has deeply saddened former students around the world. The heartfelt tributes pouring in on social media reflect the special place he continues to hold in the hearts of countless people.
Appealing to former students, well-wishers, and residents of the city, Aujla urged everyone to attend the Final Ardas on Monday, July 13, at Gurdwara Kabir Bagh and pay their respects to the departed soul.
He said Nanji Chacha’s simplicity, compassion, spirit of selfless service, and unconditional affection for everyone will always remain an inspiration, and the Khalsa College family will cherish his memories forever.
