Bhubaneswar, November 6, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Police on Friday conducted simultaneous searches at 11 locations in Bhubaneswar and Rayagada district in connection with an alleged fraud involving the Rayagada Truck Owners’ Association. The searches covered premises linked to former Rajya Sabha member Bhaskar Rao Nekkanti and others.
Eight EOW teams carried out the operations at residential premises associated with Bhaskar Rao, B. Manmadha Rao and G. Krishna in Raniguda Farm, Pitala Street and Rayat Colony in Rayagada. Searches were also conducted at the office of the Rayagada Truck Owners’ Association on Main Road and Aditya Industries Pvt Ltd in the Forest Park area of Bhubaneswar, among other locations.
The searches are part of the investigation into Case No. 15/26, registered on September 22 under Sections 406, 403, 417, 420, 384, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the EOW, the case concerns alleged large-scale financial irregularities, criminal misappropriation of funds, extortion and criminal intimidation involving office-bearers of the truck owners’ association.
The agency alleged that the principal accused, in connivance with other office-bearers, had been collecting money from truck owners since 2005 under various heads, purportedly including contributions to fund Naxalite activities.
“The collections are estimated to have amounted to be huge and without proper accounting or issuance of receipts. It is further alleged that the misappropriated funds were diverted to various private business ventures, including logistics, trading, mining and real estate companies,” the EOW said in a statement.
The investigation is reportedly examining alleged financial irregularities and fraud involving nearly Rs 80 crore. The suspected irregularities are believed to have continued over an extended period, raising questions about the handling of funds collected from truck owners and the association’s financial transactions.
The EOW has intensified its investigation and reportedly recovered documents suspected to be incriminating during the searches. Further investigation is underway.
