Mysuru, November 6, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Karnataka BJP on Friday accused the INDIA Bloc of attempting to create unrest in the country through protests against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, claiming that the opposition was worried about Prime Minister Narendra Modi returning to office for a fourth term.

Karnataka BJP chief Vijayendra made the remarks while addressing the party’s “Save Democracy, Eradicate Anarchy” march in Mysuru, organised to counter the INDIA Bloc’s campaign against the SIR exercise and the Election Commission of India (ECI).

“Our government is in power at the Centre. Under the leadership of Narendra Modi, India has emerged as a major power. Rahul Gandhi is unable to tolerate this. They fear that PM Modi may return for a fourth time,” Vijayendra alleged.

He accused the Congress of conspiring to destabilise the NDA government and claimed that opposition leaders were attempting to bring young people onto the streets to create confusion and unrest. He also asserted that the Congress would not be able to return to power under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership.

Vijayendra said India had progressed under Modi’s leadership, claiming that terrorism and Naxalism had been curbed while the country continued on the path of development. He also referred to alleged remarks by a Jharkhand minister about mobilising large numbers of people to create unrest.

Targeting the Congress government in Karnataka, Vijayendra accused it of being anti-poor and anti-people. He alleged that increases in milk and curd prices during the Deepavali and Dasara festival period had burdened consumers and called upon BJP workers to prepare to remove the government.

N. Ravikumar, Chief Whip of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council, also criticised the state government over price increases. Speaking at the march, he alleged that the milk price hike was a Dasara gift and the bus fare increase a Deepavali gift. He further claimed that rising prices were draining people’s savings and weakening the state treasury.

Ravikumar also criticised former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and accused Rahul Gandhi of being unable to tolerate the country’s progress under Modi.

Former minister C.T. Ravi said the BJP’s campaign was aimed at protecting the Constitution and constitutional institutions and countering misinformation. He accused the Congress of taking contradictory positions on electoral processes, including the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the SIR exercise.

Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar alleged that attempts were being made to undermine the Constitution and create unrest. Referring to the SIR exercise, he claimed that names of 13 crore people had been removed from electoral rolls, including those of people who had shifted residence, deceased persons and fake voters.

He accused the INDIA Bloc of creating a controversy despite having information about the reasons for the deletions and expressed confidence that the BJP would return to power at the Centre and the NDA would form the government in Karnataka.

Former MP Pratap Simha, BJP state general secretary Pritam Gowda, MLA S.T. Somashekar, former MPs and MLAs, party office-bearers and workers also participated in the march.
