Chandigarh, November 6, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Punjab’s paddy arrival and procurement have crossed 150 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) during the ongoing Kharif Marketing Season 2026-27, while lifting has exceeded 110 LMT, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak said on Friday.
The minister said paddy arrival had crossed 152 LMT and procurement had surpassed 150 LMT. He attributed the achievement to the procurement arrangements made by the state government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and said the figures reflected farmers’ confidence in the system.
Kataruchak said progressive lifting had exceeded 110 LMT, while the lifting percentage against procurement made within 72 hours stood at 84.65 per cent. He said special emphasis was being placed on speeding up lifting to keep mandis clear for fresh arrivals and prevent inconvenience to farmers.
He further said Rs 33,000 crore had been credited to farmers’ accounts, with payments standing at 100.89 per cent. The minister reiterated that every grain brought by farmers would be procured and payments made within the stipulated time.
The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department is coordinating with procurement agencies, the Mandi Board, transporters and labour to ensure uninterrupted procurement, timely lifting and prompt payments, he added.
