Gangarampur, November 4, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
A man was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly murdering his wife and emerging from a temple near his home carrying her severed head, triggering panic in the Narayanpur area of Gangarampur town in West Bengal, police said.
The accused, identified as Rintu Ghosh, was reportedly seen sitting inside the temple with the severed head of his wife, Seema Sarkar. He later walked out carrying the head in one hand and a knife in the other, prompting residents to move away in fear.
Police recovered the woman’s head and torso and took Ghosh into custody. He was being questioned, while the motive behind the alleged murder remained unclear.
Residents said Ghosh had earlier worked as a conductor with a government bus service but had stopped working several days ago. Some neighbours suspected a marital dispute, though police had not confirmed any such motive.
A relative, Rajesh Pramanik, said the couple had two sons. He also told local media that Ghosh sometimes ate vegetarian food and behaved like a tantric, but said he could not understand why the killing took place.
