Actor Ram Charan and filmmaker Sukumar have begun work on their next film, tentatively titled ‘RC17’, with a grand pooja and mahurat ceremony in Hyderabad on Sunday. Megastar Chiranjeevi gave the ceremonial clap, marking the beginning of the project.
The film’s production house, Mythri Movie Makers, shared videos from the ceremony on its official social media handles.
The video showed Ram Charan arriving at the venue and greeting members of the team before lighting the ceremonial lamp.
“Mega Power Star @AlwaysRamCharan arrives at the #RC17 Pooja Ceremony,” the makers wrote in the caption.
In another video, Chiranjeevi was seen performing the traditional coconut-breaking ritual and giving the mahurat clap for the film.
The makers also captured a warm moment between the father and son, with Ram Charan touching Chiranjeevi’s feet before the two shared a hug.
Sharing the clip, Mythri Movie Makers wrote, “The journey of #RC17 begins with the MEGA CLAP…Megastar @chiranjeevikonidela garu sounded the clapboard and blessed the entire team of #RC17.”
The mahurat ceremony was attended by several personalities from the Telugu film industry, including Ravi Shankar, Naveen Yerneni, Naga Vamsi, Rahul Sankrityan, Gopichand Malineni, Maruthi, Buchi Babu Sana, Vamsi Nandipati and Harish Shankar, among others.
The film’s technical team includes Ratnavelu as cinematographer, while Anirudh Ravichander has been roped in to compose the music. Details of the remaining cast and crew have not yet been announced.
Ram Charan announced the project in March 2024 by sharing a picture with Sukumar.
‘RC17’ marks the actor’s second collaboration with the filmmaker after their 2018 blockbuster ‘Rangasthalam’, which featured Samantha Ruth Prabhu as the female lead.
Given the success of ‘Rangasthalam’ at the box office, expectations are high for the upcoming collaboration.
