The Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana was conferred with Shaheed Bhagat Singh State Annual Environment Award 2024 (category Institution) in recognition of its contribution to improve and protect the environment of the Punjab State.
Balkar Singh, Cabinet Minister, LocalGovernmentand Parliamentary Affairs Department presented this award to Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, honorable Vice Chancellor, PAU, Ludhiana during Republic Day State level function held at PAU, Ludhiana.
The award consists of a cash prize of Rs. One lakh, a certificate of appreciation and a silver plate as memento.
Under the visionary leadership of its Vice Chancellor, Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, the University has successfully launched a “Clean & Green Campus Drive” to combine environment friendly practices and education to promote sustainable and eco-friendly practices in the campus and beyond the campus in the different districts of State.
In this regard, PAU has launched number of environment friendly initiatives such as ground water recharging, e-rickshaws, crop residue utilization apart from conserving energy by installation of one MW Solar Power Generation Plant.
Dr RIS Gill, Estate Officer, Dr Dhanwinder Singh, Head, Department of Soil Sciences and Dr Sandeep Singh, Principal Entomologist (Fruits) accompanied Dr SS Gosal while receiving the award.
