Punjab AAP working president and Batala MLA Sherry Kalsi on Monday laid the foundation stone for a grand entry gate at the Amritsar-Batala Bypass, marking another initiative aimed at the development and beautification of Batala city.
Mayor Bhupinder Singh, Chairman Yashpal Chauhan, Chairman Manik Mehta, President Vinnu Kahlon, Lion Rajiv Wig, senior leader Pardeep Kumar, America Singh Lambardar, Das Karan Sandhu and local residents were present on the occasion.
Speaking to reporters, Sherry Kalsi said the proposed entry gate would symbolise Batala’s historical, religious and industrial heritage.
He said the gateway would introduce visitors entering the city to Batala’s distinctive identity while also enhancing the overall appearance of the city.
Kalsi said the design of the gate would combine modern technology with traditional art. He added that attractive lighting would be installed to illuminate the structure at night and make it visible from a distance.
Local residents welcomed the project and said development and beautification initiatives were important in view of Batala’s historical significance. They expressed hope that the new gateway would give the city a distinct and attractive identity.
Officials present at the site assured that the construction work would be completed within the stipulated timeline and that quality standards would be strictly maintained.
Once completed, the entry gate is expected to provide visitors entering Batala with a prominent visual representation of the city’s heritage and ongoing development.
