President Droupadi Murmu congratulated India’s shooters after the country secured a gold and a silver medal in shooting at the 2026 Asian Games, praising their precision and teamwork.
Suruchi Singh and Kamaljeet won India’s first shooting gold of the ongoing Aichi-Nagoya Games in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event, delivering a strong performance in the final.
“A golden finish for Kamaljeet and Suruchi Inder Singh! The duo clinched the Gold Medal for India in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the Asian Games 2026. A fine display of precision and partnership. Heartiest congratulations to both of you on this remarkable achievement!” the President posted on X.
The Indian pair finished the final with 484.6 points, setting a new Asian record. Their tally surpassed the previous continental mark of 481.3 set by Uzbekistan earlier this year and was 3.8 points short of the world record.
Suruchi and Kamaljeet took an early lead and maintained their advantage despite a challenge from South Korea. They finished 6.6 points ahead of the Korean pair, who claimed silver with 478 points, while Iran secured bronze with 415.8 points.
The President also congratulated Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil and Niraj Kumar after the trio won silver in the Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions Team event.

The Indian trio recorded a combined score of 1762-94x in the team final at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery to finish second.
China won the gold with 1766-95x, while South Korea took bronze with 1751-87x.
