Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan shared a humorous childhood memory of Diwali during a special festive episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), leaving actors Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Ravi Dubey laughing.
The cast of Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming mythological drama Ramayana will appear on the special Diwali episodes of the popular quiz show, hosted by Bachchan.
Recalling his festive memories, Bachchan said, “Diwali ki ek hi yaad hai, ki agar bagal wale ke yahan bomb fata hai, toh hamara bomb usse zyada tez hona chahiye.” He explained that whenever a neighbour’s firecracker went off, his own had to be even louder. The candid confession brought smiles and laughter from Ranbir, Ravi and Sai Pallavi.
In a recently released promotional video for the special episode, Ranbir set the festive mood by reflecting on the significance of the occasion. “Diwali ka tyohar, Ramayana ki kahani, aur apno ke saath jashn… Isse khaas aur kya ho sakta hai?” he said, noting that the festival, the story of the Ramayana and celebrations with loved ones made for a special combination.
Inviting viewers to join the celebrations, Ranbir added that audiences could share the festive occasion with the cast on Kaun Banega Crorepati.
The promotional footage also showed Bachchan bowing before Lord Hanuman to seek blessings. The veteran actor joined the audience in chanting, “Boliye Siya Pati Ramchandra ki… Jai…”
The Diwali special episodes of Kaun Banega Crorepati are scheduled to air on October 29 and 30 on Sony Entertainment Television.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and backed by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman.
The film’s supporting cast includes Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Arun Govil, Indira Krishnan and Lara Dutta in significant roles.
The first instalment of the two-part franchise is scheduled for release on November 5, while the second part is expected to arrive during Diwali 2027.
