Led by ADGP and SSP, Jalandhar Rural Police launches CASO to tackle Street Crime

In a focused effort to curb street crime, Jalandhar Rural Police conducted a district-wide Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) today, leading to major recoveries of illegal drugs and other contraband. The operation, held between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., was led by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) PAP, Sh. M.F. Farooqui, along with the SSP of Jalandhar Rural Police Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh.

The operation was carefully planned, with DSP-rank officers supervising activities in each police station, while four Superintendents of Police (SPs) managed different sub-divisions. A total of 26 Rural Rapid Response Vehicles were deployed to ensure quick action in areas identified as high-risk.

ADGP Sh. Farooqui stressed the importance of these operations in reducing criminal activity and ensuring public safety.

SSP Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh, who led the operation, stated that their focus was on areas known for criminal activities, and the significant recoveries made during the operation reflect the commitment of Jalandhar Rural Police to keeping the district safe.

The CASO resulted in 22 FIRs being registered and 28 individuals being arrested. Police teams searched multiple locations, recovering 28 grams of heroin, 665 intoxicant tablets, 784,000 ml of illicit liquor, 200 kg of lahan, and two working stills. Six mobile phones and two stolen motorcycles were also seized during the operation.

In addition, preventive measures were taken against 28 individuals under Section 129 BNSS (110 CrPC). Police also prepared 13 dossiers, opened 13 history sheets, issued 237 traffic challans, and impounded 43 vehicles.

This operation has disrupted criminal activities across the district and strengthened the police’s presence in vulnerable areas.

Jalandhar Rural Police remains committed to maintaining law and order and urges citizens to report any suspicious activities to help ensure the safety of the community, said SSP Khakh.
