Deputy Election Commissioner of the Election Commission of India (ECI), Bhanu Prakash Yeturu, IAS, on Monday chaired a high-level review meeting in Sri Amritsar Sahib to assess the progress of the ongoing house-to-house distribution and collection of enumeration forms under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of electoral rolls in Punjab.

The meeting was co-chaired by Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Punjab, Anindita Mitra, IAS, and attended by Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers from Sri Amritsar Sahib, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur and Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar districts.

During the review, the Election Commission assessed the pace and implementation of the ongoing field exercise, which involves the door-to-door distribution and collection of enumeration forms as part of the Special Intensive Revision aimed at updating and strengthening the electoral rolls.

Senior election officials from the participating districts briefed the Deputy Election Commissioner on the progress achieved so far, district-wise implementation, and the measures being taken to ensure timely completion of the exercise.

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is a comprehensive electoral roll verification programme undertaken by the Election Commission to ensure that voter lists remain accurate, inclusive and up to date through extensive field-level verification.

The review meeting forms part of the Election Commission’s ongoing monitoring of the electoral roll revision process across Punjab ahead of future elections.
