Allu Arjun-starrer ‘Raaka’, directed by Atlee, has set a Guinness World Record for the “Most People Motion-Captured in Real-Time”, with 37 performers captured simultaneously, the makers announced on Monday.
Sun Pictures, which is producing the highly anticipated film, announced the achievement on social media, saying it marked a global milestone for Indian cinema.
According to the production house, Allu Arjun and Atlee received the Guinness World Records certificate recognising the achievement.
The announcement came as Atlee celebrated his birthday. Allu Arjun also extended birthday wishes to the filmmaker and said he was looking forward to creating more magic with him.
The ‘Pushpa’ actor shared a monochrome photograph with Atlee on his official social media account and wrote, “Happy Birthday to my director @Atlee_dir garu. Extremely proud to work with a director of your vision and calibre. Looking forward to creating more magic.”
The makers had earlier unveiled the first look of Allu Arjun on the occasion of the actor’s 44th birthday. The poster featured an intense close-up of the actor with a bald, rugged appearance, with his face partially obscured by what appeared to be a wolf’s claw, giving the character a primal and warrior-like look.
Sun Pictures had announced the project last year and highlighted the involvement of several international technicians and visual-effects experts.
Among them is VFX supervisor James Madigan, known for his work on ‘Iron Man 2’ and ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’. Speaking about the project, Madigan said he had just finished reading the script and was still “spinning” from it.
The announcement video also featured Allu Arjun speaking with Mike Elizalde, president of Spectral Motion, about the script. Elizalde described it as unlike anything he had previously read and said it represented the kind of project he would want to create.
Academy Award winner and Fractured FX artistic director and CEO Justin Raleigh also spoke about the film’s creature and character possibilities, while William Wright Anderson, co-owner of Lola VFX, expressed excitement about being part of the project.
The makers have described ‘Raaka’ as a film with universal appeal and have positioned its technical and visual-effects work as a key part of the project.
