India’s Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill, all-rounder Abhishek Sharma and left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh will headline the marquee player list for the upcoming Sher-e-Punjab T20 League, which is set to begin on August 30.
The tournament will be held at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium in Mohali from August 30 to September 13, with more than 450 Punjab-based players scheduled to enter the auction on Sunday.
Gill has been named the marquee player of Fazilka Falcons, while Abhishek Sharma will represent Amritsar Soormas. Arshdeep Singh will turn out for Ludhiana Lions and wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh has been named the marquee player for Jalandhar Warriors.
Ramandeep Singh will represent Mohali Kings, while young fast bowler Gurnoor Brar has been named the marquee player for Bathinda Royals.

The participation of established Indian players is expected to provide a major boost to the league while giving emerging cricketers from Punjab an opportunity to compete alongside players with international experience.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said the state had consistently produced exceptional cricketing talent and described the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League as an important platform for nurturing the next generation.
“Punjab has always been a land of extraordinary cricketing talent and the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League is an important platform to showcase that talent. The presence of players like Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma and Arshdeep Singh will inspire the next generation of cricketers across the state. We want Punjab to continue producing players who can represent India at the highest level,” Mann said.
PCA Secretary Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said the marquee player announcement marked an encouraging beginning to the new season.
He said the participation of established players would allow young cricketers to learn from them, compete at a higher level and further develop their skills.
“With a combination of established Indian stars and promising young players, the upcoming season of Sher-e-Punjab T20 League will prove to be another important step towards strengthening Punjab’s cricketing infrastructure and creating opportunities for the next generation of cricketers of the state,” Hayer said.
