Patiala, October 24, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

A 27-year-old motorcyclist was allegedly abducted after a speeding SUV struck his motorcycle in Punjab’s Patiala district and was later found stabbed to death, with his body dumped in a drain along the Patiala–Sangrur highway, police officials said on Saturday.

The victim, identified as Nawab Khan, was riding his motorcycle on Friday afternoon when a black SUV allegedly travelling on the wrong side of the road hit him head-on near a petrol pump close to Dakala village.

Following the collision, the occupants of the SUV reportedly overpowered Khan and forcibly took him away in the vehicle.

A passerby recorded a video shortly after the alleged abduction, showing Khan hanging halfway out of a window of the speeding SUV as it travelled towards Sangrur. The footage, along with CCTV recordings and other evidence, is being examined by investigators.

Khan was allegedly stabbed to death after being abducted. His body was subsequently dumped in a drain near Kalajhar village, before the SUV reached the Kala Jhar toll plaza on the Patiala–Sangrur highway.

Police registered FIR No. 225 at Pasiyana police station on Friday under Sections 103(1), 140(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in connection with the murder and abduction.

Superintendent of Police (City) Mohit Aggarwal said police teams were conducting raids at multiple locations to trace the accused. Investigators are analysing the available footage and other evidence to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify those involved.

Police said the search for the suspects travelling in the black SUV was continuing, with teams deployed at different locations to apprehend them.

The killing has left Khan’s wife and one-year-old daughter without their husband and father, adding to the tragedy faced by the bereaved family.

The incident has also triggered political criticism over Punjab’s law-and-order situation.

Shiromani Akali Dal general secretary Bikram Singh Majithia launched an attack on the state government following the killing. In a post on X, he questioned Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s accountability and alleged that murders were occurring frequently in the state.

Majithia urged the Chief Minister to focus on Punjab’s law-and-order situation rather than prioritising the interests of political leaders in Delhi.

The investigation is underway, and police are continuing efforts to identify and arrest those responsible for the crime.
