Chennai, September 29, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Tamil Nadu Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan on Tuesday criticised AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami, saying his expulsion from the party had ultimately paved the way for him to join Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s government.

Addressing a by-election campaign meeting in Dharapuram, Sengottaiyan described his move to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) as a turning point in his political career.

“Fortunately, EPS expelled me from the party. Today I am a minister. I escaped,” Sengottaiyan told supporters, referring to Palaniswami by his initials.

He accused Palaniswami of betraying people within the AIADMK and attributed the party’s decline to his leadership. Sengottaiyan credited Vijay with welcoming him into the TVK after his departure from the AIADMK and subsequently appointing him as a minister.

“EPS did a good job. He removed me from the party, and leader Vijay took me in and made me a minister. This is history,” he said.

Sengottaiyan suggested that without Vijay’s intervention, his political position could have been considerably weaker. He presented his experience as an example of the support he said the TVK provides to those who place their trust in the party.

Addressing party workers and voters, the minister urged them not to be intimidated by attempts to control or suppress them, asserting that the party would stand up for its supporters against any such efforts.

Turning to local issues, Sengottaiyan said the government would work to address residents’ needs. He announced that 25 lakh people across Tamil Nadu would receive land ownership documents, known as pattas, by next year.

He also spoke about the need to make plots and houses available to people for Rs 5 lakh, but did not outline details of how the proposal would be implemented.

Calling for a decisive mandate for the TVK in the Dharapuram by-election, Sengottaiyan urged party workers to strive for a victory margin of one lakh votes, saying such a result would create history in the constituency.

His address focused on his departure from the AIADMK, criticism of its leadership and promises concerning land ownership and affordable housing, while appealing to voters to support Vijay’s party in the upcoming by-election.
