Megastar Amitabh Bachchan gave a witty response when a contestant on Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18 turned the spotlight on him and asked about his relationship with wife Jaya Bachchan’s family.
During the light-hearted exchange, contestant Aheli reminded Bachchan that he is Bengal’s son-in-law and announced that she would quiz him about his connection with the state.
She then asked him to choose between his father-in-law and mother-in-law when it came to whom he liked more. Bachchan answered without hesitation: “Sasumaa” (mother-in-law).
Aheli followed up by asking what he missed most about his in-laws’ home. Bachchan once again responded with his trademark humour, saying: “Jo sasural jaaye woh miss kare, hum kyu miss kare?” — suggesting that the person who goes to their in-laws’ home should be the one missing it.
The exchange brought attention to Bachchan’s long-standing connection with Jaya and her Bengali family background. The actor married Jaya Bachchan in 1973, and the couple have two children, Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan Nanda.
Jaya is the daughter of writer and journalist Taroon Kumar Bhaduri and Indira Bhaduri. Bachchan has previously spoken about his wedding to Jaya, recalling that he preferred a simple ceremony rather than an elaborate or loud celebration.
The playful interaction on KBC 18 offered viewers another glimpse of the veteran actor’s ability to respond to personal questions with humour while hosting the popular quiz show.
